Robin Day is arguably one of Britain's most celebrated and most recognisable Mid Century designers.
Few chairs have achieved such a universal familiarity as Day's Polyprop, a stackable chair featured in countless village halls, hospitals and schools to name but a few. Day's ambition with the Polyprop was to make good design available to the mass market in the form of affordable and reliable furniture.
The Polo chair as for sale here was an evolution of the Polyprop and was first manufactured in 1972 by S.Hille & Co. a London based company that Day collaborated with for over 20 years as a consultant designer.
Robin Day designed the Polo chair as the world’s first indoor/ outdoor chair and saw it as the most fun piece in his collection of designs. The low flexible back offers incredible support for long periods of use, a design aspect that Day himself described as a “virtual upholstery feel”.
In a bright and vibrant classic orange, very of its period, the chairs are in general good condition with the usual scuffs, scratches and other marks. We have multiples of these chairs in stock all with different but similar amounts of wear, the images above are a snapshot of this wear over numerous chairs.
Sure to brighten up any space, we're sure these chairs won't stay in stock for long.
Each chair measures approximately 69cm tall, 53cm wide and 50cm deep with a 45cm seat height. Please note, this listing is for one chair only.
