Ercol furniture is always hugely popular, not only because each piece looks so good but because of the exceptional craftsmanship and quality which has lasted the test of time.
We've passed by a lot of pieces recently either due to condition or simply the fact that they've just not been quite right. So, when we saw this chair and matching footstool we had to have it.
Its low seat height and beech wood are a classic combination, a design of which remain sought after pieces still today. Light and airy the exaggerated reclined back is sure to look stunning in any room of the house.
When first released Ercol described the chair as being revolutionary due to the fact that the entire area of the seat and back rest were completely free from any constructional cross rails. Instead reinforced rubber suspension was used, which meant that, in their opinion, the chair would conform to each and every person that sat in the chair, allowing for maximum tailored comfort.
In general good condition with wear commensurate with age, including some scuff marks and light scratching and surface wear as photographed. That being said we've given the frame of both the chair and footstool a thorough clean and new coat of oil, conditioning the wood, ensuring they look their best once more.
We've had new cushions and coves made in high quality 100% wool fabric by Moon, the colour of which is sympathetic to the original Ercol colour selection. Both the chair and footstool have also been completely re-webbed with new Pirelli rubber webbing, as the original chair would have had back when originally produced.
The chair measures approximately 73cm wide, 92cm deep, 82cm tall with a seat height of 38cm, while the footstool measures approximately 53cm wide, 68cm deep and 38cm tall.
A beautiful classic item that is sure to enhance the interior of any home.
