This is a particularly nice example of an American Hunting Jacket and is far higher quality than most I have seen. It was made by American Field Sportswear in Ohio and probably dates from the 1960s (although it could be earlier).
The fabric is a fine but thick cotton which is far less stiff than that usually found on jackets of this type. The sage green colour is lovely to and is perfectly complimented by the card corduroy lined collar and cuffs and the large branded buttons. It features a poachers pocket which is held in place by beautifully made chromed metal clips and a pair of brass 'Talon' brand zippers. (Talon zippers are a much sought after feature of American vintage clothing and are often remade by high end menswear labels).
The poachers pocket can also be accessed via two button down pockets on the back of the jacket. The jacket also features a subtly quilted shoulder rest which would have been to rest a rifle against. The woven brand label is another lovely detail. The jacket is in wonderful condition with no holes or visible ware marks.
This jacket is around a size medium but also suits a small.
