Original Engraving of architectural details from Renaissance Rome. Details de l’elevation du Palais Della Cancellaria - Plate 83.
This original engraving is part of Edifices De Rome Moderne - a collection of engraved plates on Renaissance architecture by architect Paul Letarouilly, who devoted 35 years to engraving plans, elevations, sections and details of the important buildings in Renaissance Rome. His book is still probably the most beautiful book on Renaissance architecture ever published. Believed to date from 1874, the engraving is printed on thick off-white stock and the original plate impression is clearly visible. Please examine the photos depicting the condition of the print. As expected a print of this age (140+ years) there are signs of wear and tear which add to its vintage appeal. There are several age spots and some small tears to the paper on the bottom and left hand edges. The finely engraved black lines are all visible and readable. It will fit best in a standard A2 size frame with a mount.
