Hand painted on panelled pine. Wonderful wear and patina to the paint. English, circa 1967.

The sign was painted by a local fan to coincide with The Beatles arrival in Devon on their first stop of The Magical Mystery Tour.

After the Beatles completed Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in April 1967, Paul McCartney wanted to create a film that captured a psychedelic theme similar to that represented by author and LSD proponent Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters on the US West Coast. Titled Magical Mystery Tour, the film was to be unscripted: various "ordinary" people were to travel on a coach and have unspecified "magical" adventures.

In original condition so will show signs of patina, chips to the paint and various age marks. As with all of our products this product is an original piece and has lived a life before it arrived at Otto's HQ.

It has been sympathetically restored by the Otto's team to ensure it has a life for many more years to come. All of our products will show signs of patina and cosmetic wear, this we believe is what gives our products their unique charm.
