These small Confit pots (preserving pots) were made in the 19th century to preserve food, pre-fridges. They are made of stoneware with thick walls and have lips on the top to allow them to be covered with fabric and string.
They are often also called Grease Pots, as hey would store the dripping collected whilst cooking birds. Nowadays they make perfect storage pots for any room of the house.
