This beautiful extending dining table and four chairs is the perfect set for any lover of high quality Mid 20th Century Modern design.

The mixture of straight and curved lines adds a simple elegance, the almost floating back rest is certainly an eye catching feature, combined with the tonal woods and small wooden dowel design details, this really is an exquisite set.

  1. Wrighton & Sons Ltd of London were makers of high quality furniture winning several design awards. During WW2 the firm were involved in making aircraft parts for the war effort. After the end of the war, Wrighton resumed the manufacture of Kitchen, Living and Bedroom Furniture.

Wrighton closed during the 1970s as they were faced with competition from manufacturers who were mass producing flat-pack furniture made from non-traditional materials that were machined to templates by semi-skilled workers.

Ironically today, Wrighton furniture is now highly desirable with examples of their furniture in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection.

In lovely condition after a full restoration by Wynn Griffiths and Tarr, there are however still some minor signs of previous use and wear, including some knocks, marks and some light scratching as photographed. The seat pads have also been recovered with new fabric and foam.

The table measures approximately 151.5cm long (197cm when fully extended), 83.5cm wide and 74cm tall, with and under table height of 61.5cm. While each chair measures approximately 49cm wide, 45cm deep and 80cm tall with a 45cm seat height.
