This lovely set of drawers is modest in design but bursting with charm and style. The simple clean lines, mixture of woods and ribbed top drawer really make this piece a classic in mid-century modern design.
- Wrighton & Sons Ltd of London were makers of high quality furniture winning several design awards. During WW2 the firm were involved in making aircraft parts for the war effort. After the end of the war, Wrighton resumed the manufacture of Kitchen, Living and Bedroom Furniture.
Wrighton closed during the 1970s as they were faced with competition from manufacturers who were mass producing flat-pack furniture made from non-traditional materials that were machined to templates by semi-skilled workers.
Ironically today, Wrighton furniture is now highly desirable with examples of their furniture in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection.
In general good condition for its age with the usual light surface wear and scratching, dints and marks throughout, along with a dark patch of wood to middle top as photographed. We've given the drawers a good clean and oil, conditioning the wood and making sure this beautiful piece of furniture looks it's very best once more.
Measures approximately 99cm wide, 46cm deep and 77.5cm tall.
