Mid-century, abstract painting by Swedish artist, Edvard Andersson (1891-1967).
Richly painted with thick oils like the frosting on the finest carrot cake. Angel cake pink, peppermint patty and buttercream hues nicely retrained by outlines of claret and ash grey. About the Artist Edvard Andersson was born 1891, in Helsingborg, Sweden; died 1967.
Andersson exhibited in Denmark, France and the USA. He was highly educated and particularly familiar with classical French authors, studying in depth Monge's theories on descriptive geometry. Perhaps because of this, his compositions were rigorous in style, aided by confident strokes and a choice of vivid, elementary tones set against uniform backgrounds.
