Colourful oil on board by Swedish artist Kaja Bentzel (1914 -2003). Smashing expressionist piece dated 1960, depicting a glass jar of vivid blue cornflowers on a round table. A vibrant window, stage right, leads us into a green garden. Some lovely clay and chocolate colours with splashes of amethyst.
About the artist
Kaja Bentzel, painter and textile artist studied at the Higher Art Industrial School in Stockholm 1941-1945 and for Nils Nilsson at Valand School of Fine Art in Gothenburg.
Undertook study trips to South France and Paris.
Separately she exhibited at Galleria Aveny in Gothenburg in 1949 and at Welamson's Art Gallery in Stockholm in 1950 and she participated in collections at the Gothenburg Art Hall .
Among her public works is a large mural in the Aspen church in Lerum. Her art consists of still life , figures, portraits and landscape paintings from the west coast and Ångermanland of Sweden in oil or pastel and textile compositions.
