1958, oil painting 'The Music Room', by Swedish artist, Hans Larsson.

Super duper texture in this glorious piece, like peanut butter spread thickly on a piece of toasted sourdough. Trumpet yellow, buff and ice blue colours, part abstract, part cubist, totally fabulous.

Hans Oswald Larsson 1915-1973 Larsson was born in Vanstad, Malmöhus on 17th June 1915. He was a Swedish painter. Larsson studied painting in Copenhagen and Paris and was one of the first people to exhibit at Elsa Lindströms Modern konst i hemmiljö (Modern art in the home) in Storgatan 48 in Stockholm in 1939.

He exhibited there again in 1941 alongside the Gothenburg Colourist (Göteborgskoloristerna) artist Åke Göransson (1902-1942). Larsson exhibited in Jököping (1943), at the Youth Salon (De Ungas salong) in Stockholm in 1946, at the prestigious Galleri Gummesons in 1951 (Gummesons Gallery is one Scandinavia's foremost contemporary art galleries.

Launched in 1912 by Carl Gummeson, a local book dealer, it quickly forged a reputation for supporting Modern Art) and in Simrishamn, southern Sweden 1955.

Examples of Larssons work are held in the collection of the L'Institut Tessin in Paris (also known as the Centre Culturel Suédois, L'Institut Tessin is a museum in Paris dedicated to the history of Franco-Swedish artistic exchanges), the Moderna Museet (the Museum of Modern Art, Stockholm), the Ystads Konstmuseum as well as the museums in Helsingborg, Kristianstad and Malmö.
