1950s original storage boxes - stackable pair. In 1853 the textile industrial revolution arrived in Loos, Nord France with the formation of the Esquermes factory by Alfred Thirez. The factories produced cotton thread for sewing and embroidery. Suroy was born from the practical need to provide hard wearing dry, robust containers that could store the textile raw materials. Made from vulcanised/boiled card with rivetted construction and usually (but not always) marked with the Suroy Lion brand. Each box is Suroy branded. Dimensions are for a single box. Sold as a pair.
