1950s Soviet industrial tambour fronted tall chest of drawers/cabinet. We sourced this extraordinary piece of Soviet history directly from Western Russia. Made of pitch pine throughout with an oak Tambour shutter on the front and original brass handle.
The cabinet has 24 small drawers and 12 large drawers, all working smoothly and with original dividers and notation marking. The cabinet was used to store and organise industrial fixings and the drawer liners have a worn and oily finish.
A gem of a piece. Originally painted green the cabinet has been repainted to grey, probably in the '70s. This is a large bold visual statement perfect for a loft environment or large room. Note: We have cleaned the drawer linings but do not want to over clean and remove the history of the piece. If using for the storage of delicate items we recommend adding protective lining in the drawers.
Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
