Here for sale is a fantastic large original toleware Parnall & Sons grocers bin. Made from metal with wooden cover. Painted with bin number and has makers plaque to back. Originally used to store tea in a grocers shop.
Renowed makers, Parnall & sons was shop, ship fitting and aircraft component manufactuers in Bristol, England. Founded by William Parnall in 1820. In the 1880s Parnall & sons was the largest shop fitting comapny in England with several showrooms in London and Swansea. The public rooms on the liner QE2 was provided by Parnall & Sons.
The grocers bin is late 19th Century (cera 1880) and is rare find. Lovely wear to front and great patina to wood. The far piece of wood seems to be later thatn the flap at the front. Lid is attached to base.
Shows lots signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
The bin has some rust to base and a hole to bottom so is not water tight.
